I went to Queenstown for an adventure filled week. I decided that I wanted to try and pack as much in as possible. I was looking for things to do on the web and came across Guided Walks New Zealand and found out they offered snow shoeing. It sounded neat so I decided to book. I am so glad that I did, it was totally worth it!!!!
The shoes are specially designed and fit on really easy. It sort of feels like walking with thongs on your feet. It took only a few steps to get the hang of it.
Our guide Marcus was amazing!! He led us up through the snow fields and we climbed higher than I thought possible. The shoes made it really easy to climb up the hill, especially with the high heels on! (That’s the name we dubbed the little metal bar that pops beneath your heel to help you go up). We had stacks of little breaks along the way which we took to look at the stunning views. Finally at the top we were able to walk around a frozen lake!!!!
We settled on a sunny side of the lake and Marcus dug us out a snow couch (It was huge!). We then tucked into tea, coffee and really yummy chicken sandwiches. The snowman, complete with goatee was built and then we headed back the way we came up. It was a lot easier going down the hill, and we even got to slide down a little bit which was fun.
All in all it was a great adventure and I would recommend this to everyone who wants to get as much variety into their holiday as possible. I did and I am definitely doing it again when I come back to NZ!!!

I had a fantastic time and enjoyed the guides great ability to make it a fun day and look after everyone at the same time. As an experienced skier I enjoyed every bit of the walk in the snow along with our break at the frozen lake. I'm glad of the experience and would enjoy doing it again.

This was an outstanding trip. Not something we had heard much about or saw ourselves doing, but we were incredibly glad we did. A fantastic afternoon out, seeing parts of the Remarkables we would never have seen otherwise. We also felt very safe in Peter's expert hands.
                        Highly recommended!

We won a half day snow shoe trip through our Ski Express bar night.
Spent a week skiing in Queenstown, our final day was booked for snow shoeing and we couldn't have asked for better conditions. It must have been close to 30cm of fresh snow for us to shoe in and thankfully Peter led the way. Showing where the deep snow was and how to fall in it.
Apart from Skiing I had never done anything else on snow and this experience was definitely the highlight of the trip.
Peter's sense of humour and knowledge of the Remarkables, Queenstown, and dangers of the snow etc have really made me much more aware of the environment that I ski on.
Thanks for a great last day and wishing your new winter venture all the success! Cheers for some great laughs.

Snow shoeing was wonderful! The walk was an easy grade with plenty of photo opportunities and the guides offered interesting tidbits of local information along the way. It was a unique experience being on the mountain after all the skiers had left and the sun was setting. Definitely a "Must-do" when you're in Queenstown!

I was impressed with the sustainability of the walk - we left only footprints and took away memories to last a lifetime.

I think water should be offered regularly, we had to share ours with fellow snowshoers.
Hand sanitiser should be offered before eating lunch.

Snowshoeing was an activity option at a conference I was attending. For a non skier this was an amazing experience. Peter, our guide was most helpful and knowledgeable, his concern for our comfort and personal safety throughout the walk made for a very relaxed and memorable day. Peter's professionalism and personable manner will make even the most inexperienced novice enjoy this spectacular adventure and breathtaking scenery.

My sister and I took this walk and enjoyed every minute of it. As non-skiers, we have always been frustrated at not being able to go beyond the base of the ski slopes. With Peter's expert and thoroughly enjoyable guidance, we were able for the first time to go above and beyond the skiers and experience the pristine beauty of the Remarkables. It was the highlight of our trip to Queenstown.

Our guide Peter was friendly and knowledgeable. He gave us a good safety briefing at the start. The snow shoeing was easy to master and lots of fun. The views from above the ski field were amazing. We've already told friends to give it a go.

Great guide, great company, great scenery.

We thoroughly enjoyed our first (unlikely our last) experience of snow-shoeing. A great alternative to skiing. Oh, and coffee & cookies overlooking the snow drenched slopes of the Remarkables - just beautiful!
